Our work depends on Background Investigator 4 Intel (Part Time - Casual) joining our team to conduct complex investigations that provide comprehensive coverage of basic suitability, eligibility, loyalty and overall security-related concerns for US Government Agencies. This is a part-time casual position, with a possibility of full-time conversion in the future.

HOW A BACKGROUND INVESTIGATOR WILL MAKE AN IMPACT

● You will have a high degree of skill, tact and discretion to ensure the protection of the subject's legal rights, while obtaining sufficient information necessary to properly evaluate the individual, while at the same time protecting the identity of confidential sources

● Complete assignments within mandated time constraints, obtaining sufficient investigative coverage for the case type in accordance with the federal investigative standards

● Conduct personal interviews with applicants, their neighbors, coworkers, supervisors, friends, and associates

● Conduct record searches at employers, law enforcement agencies, courthouses, mental health providers, and educational institutions

● Communicate effectively verbally and in writing to obtain and report factual information

● Prepare clear, concise reports of investigation following standardized formats

● Demonstrate an ability to balance and prioritize workloads, understand and properly interpret policies and procedures regarding federal background investigations

● Interact with management, case review officers, and assigners to ensure timeliness and thoroughness of investigations

● May be asked to assist with temporary details (TDYs) to high-need areas, dependent upon workload demands

● Perform additional functions, duties and specific tasks of a similar nature and scope as necessary in order to achieve assigned business objectives

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED

● Must be a citizen of the United States, at least 18 years of age
● Bachelor's Degree or equivalent is required; relevant experience can be substituted for the required education on the basis of one calendar year of experience for one academic year of education
● Required Experience: A minimum of one-year prior experience conducting personnel background investigations for U.S. Government Agencies utilizing the Federal Investigative Standards (FIS) for one on one personal interviews is required

● Must be able to obtain a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) or active Secret level security clearance based on an SSBI

● Personal vehicle, valid driver's license, and satisfactory driving record
● Must reside within Northern VA/I 95 Corridor

● Security Clearance Level: Current Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) or active Secret level security clearance based on an SSBI preferred

● Fluency in verbal and written English required with second language fluency preferred

The likely hourly rate for this position is between $40.12 - $54.28. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
