Ability to operate front-end loader skid-steer loader or other motorized equipment. Ability to read and understand maps blueprints and other construction drawings. Knowledge of basic asset management software . Flagger Certification . First Aid / CPR / AED certification . OSHA 30-hour training . Two ( 2 ) year s experience with snow operations. Two ( 2 ) year s landscaping installation and irrigation experience. Two ( 2 ) year s experience in outdoor physical maintenance or construction with preference given for experience in landscape irrigation including basic knowledge of plant tree and weed identification or equivalent combination of education training and experience. High School Diploma or GED . Two (2) years experience in heavy construction . Possession of or ability to obtain Flagger certification-ATSSA (American Traffic Safety Services Association) or equivalent certification as a traffic flagger within nine ( 9 ) months of hire . Possession of or ability to obtain class A or B CDL with tanker endorsement and without airbrake restriction within six (6) months after passing probation . OSHA 10- hour within twelve (12) months of hire . Physical and Mental Effort : Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing or other communication capabilities that permits the employee to communicate effectively on the telephone and in person. Sufficient vision or other powers of observation that permits the employee to operate equipment and review evaluate and prepare a variety of written documents and materials. Sufficient manual dexterity that permits the employee to operate equipment. Sufficient personal mobility and physical reflexes which permits the employee to work in an outdoor environment in a variety of weather conditions and in confined spaces and to operate equipment while working in and around moving traffic. Upper body strength to lift and carry equipment and supplies as needed. Ability to work under stress from demanding deadlines public contact and changing priorities and conditions. Work Environment : Works outdoors in a variety of weather conditions in and around moving traffic and in confined spaces. Works in a setting subject to continuous interruptions and background noises. Machines and E quipment U sed : Hand and power tools long-handled tools jackhammer chainsaw tamper grinder compressor safety devices utility truck single and tandem-axle dump trucks backhoe loader two-way radio telephones calculators and copy / fax machines. Operates tools and equipment in the performance of maintenance tasks and may perform minor and preventative maintenance on equipment and vehicles. Works safely work in and around moving traffic and in congested work zones. Promotes a safety culture by observing and following all city and department safety procedures regulations and policies and assists in ensuring others do so to promote a safe work environment and prevent injuries and illnesses. Identifies hazards and additional maintenance needs to maintain the health of various types of turf shrubs and trees in assigned areas and clearly explain these needs to lead staff or supervisors. Performs mowing trimming vegetation and debris removal along transportation corridors multi-use paths and in median and pocket park areas. Performs snow and ice control operations with various equipment. Responds to 25% after-hours work during irregular hours weekends evenings holidays and emergencies. Job Description : IRRIGATION
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs troubleshooting diagnosis installation and repairs to irrigation systems along transportation corridors multi-use paths and in median and pocket park areas.
- Identifies deficiencies and additional maintenance needs to maintain the health of various types of turf shrubs and trees in assigned areas and clearly explain these needs to lead staff or supervisor .
- Performs snow and ice control operations with various equipment.
- Safely works in and around moving traffic and in congested work zones.
- Uses tools and equipment in the performance of maintenance tasks and may perform minor and preventative maintenance on equipment and vehicles.
- Maintains accurate records of work performed and materials and equipment used.
- Remains generally alert to conditions and events occurring on public right of ways indicating anticipated or needed repairs and report such conditions to supervisors.
- Interacts with members of the public in the field to provide information and customer service. Provides input into responses to inquiries from the public and / or internal departments / requestors.
- Promotes a safety culture by observing and following all city and department safety procedures regulations and policies and assists in ensuring others do so to promote a safe work environment and prevent injuries and illnesses.
