Description :
The Food Safety Technician monitors production processes of the facility to ensure all products meet company quality and food safety requirements during plant operations to ensure compliance with all company’s regulatory and Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) standards.
Responsibilities :
- Ensures products and raw materials meet specifications and takes appropriate actions when non-compliance is noted.
- Monitor Control Points (magnets, sifter tailings and strainers).
- Perform random CCP checks and review records.
- Inspect and immediately address any deficiency detected in the integrity of equipment, utensils, and tools, to guarantee the quality and safety of our products.
- Inspect and ensure the correct use of color coding to avoid cross contamination.
- Ensure good traceability practices from raw materials to dispatch.
- Perform GMP and Food Defense inspections during the shift.
- Inspect and ensure the proper use of lockers during programmed locker audits.
- Monitor the rework process to ensure product quality or formulation is not compromised.
- Take corrective actions in case of any foreign matter event and maintain a trend report.
- Validate the cleaning during the changeovers, and / or down / start-up days.
- Conduct glass and hard plastic inspections and submit corrective actions.
- Submit, follow up, and validate compliance with corrective actions.
- Provide food safety training to all associates.
- Perform Internal Audits.
- Support with food safety procedure elaboration and implementation.
- Verify sanitation chemicals titration as needed.
- Verify cleaning according to the Master Sanitation Program.
- Ensure that all food safety and sanitation documentation is completed accurately and in a timely manner, including reports, logs, and records.
- Support the maintenance of the 5's program.
- Perform Food Safety supervisor duties in her / his absence.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications :
Associate degree or equivalent courses and work experience in Food Science.1+ year work experience in Quality Assurance, Food Safety, or Sanitation in Food / Beverage Manufacturing.Certified in : PCQI, HACCP, Internal AuditorIntermediate computer skills including Microsoft Office applications and Windows environment.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Ability to maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating professionally and effectively with others as well as being able to receive feedback from others.Problem solving skills.Time management and teamwork skills.High level of integrity.Good knowledge of procedure implementation.Analytical thinking, meticulousness, and detail-oriented skills.Planning and organizing skills.Able to work on the weekends and some holidays.Able to cover different shifts as needed.Work may include lifting (up to 50 lbs).Bilingual (English and Spanish), preferably.Contact Us
