Laboratory Maintenance Technician

About This Role

We are seeking a skilled Lab Maintenance Technician to join our specialized laboratory support team operating in an R&D and regulated GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) environment. This comprehensive role focuses on maintaining critical laboratory equipment and utilities, including temperature-sensitive systems, sterilization equipment, and water purification systems. You will perform equipment installation, preventive maintenance, emergency repairs, and provide on-call support while ensuring strict compliance with GMP regulations and laboratory safety standards

What You'll Do

Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on ultra-low temperature freezers (-80°C), laboratory refrigerators, cold rooms, LN2 freezers and environmental chambers

Maintain and repair sterilizers (autoclaves, dry heat sterilizers, depyrogenation ovens), glasswashers, cage washers and laboratory cleaning equipment

Service RODI (Reverse Osmosis Deionized) pure water systems including filters, membranes, UV sterilizers, and water quality testing

Install and relocate laboratory equipment including analytical instruments, environmental chambers, cold storage units and utility equipment

Coordinate utility connections (electrical, gas, water, compressed air) for equipment installations

Perform routine inspections of safety equipment (emergency showers, eyewash stations, fume hoods)

Support vendor escorting

Maintain detailed documentation of all maintenance activities according to site requirements

Participate in rotating on-call schedule providing 24 / 7 maintenance support for critical systems

Respond to emergency calls and equipment alarms, prioritizing failures that could impact product quality

Support infrastructure improvement projects and provide technical expertise for equipment evaluations

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications :

Technical degree / certification in HVAC, Refrigeration, Mechanical, Electrical, or related field

Minimum 3-5 years of experience maintaining scientific or laboratory equipment, preferably in GMP environment

Demonstrated knowledge of refrigeration systems, particularly ultra-low temperature applications

Experience with building management systems (BMS) and environmental monitoring systems (EMS)

Understanding of GMP requirements and their application to equipment maintenance

Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for on-call response

Physical Requirements :

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in various environmental conditions

Ability to regularly climb extension ladders, roof ladders, stepladders, and stairs

Flexibility to bend, stoop, squat, and stretch / reach on a repetitive basis

Comfortable working in temperature-controlled environments including cold rooms

Manual dexterity for precision work and component repairs

Preferred Qualifications :

Experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, or healthcare facilities

Knowledge of calibration processes for temperature and monitoring equipment

Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)

Estimated compensation for this position :

70,000.00 - 90,000.00 USD per year This range is an estimate and actual compensation may differ. Final compensation packages are determined by various considerations including but not limited to candidate qualifications, location, market conditions, and internal considerations.
