General Laborers (Slitter Helper) Opportunity

Cardinal Staffing is seeking General Laborers (Slitter Helper) for a steel facility in New Boston, MI. As the top employer in the area, we offer weekly pay and other amazing employee benefits.

Shifts :

  • 1st Shift 5am-3pm
  • 2nd Shift 3 : 00PM - 1 : 00AM

Schedule :

  • Monday - Friday
  • Weekly Pay

    • Some overtime may be required if production needs increase.

    Pay : $17.00 - $17.40 per hour

    MUST provide an updated resume that shows recent work history.

    Hire-in opportunity after 90 days (based on attendance and performance).

    Full benefits available after hire-in date.

    The purpose of this job is to perform miscellaneous general labor activities, including pulling parts off a laser machine.

    Essential Functions of Job :

  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs consistently throughout shift
  • Assisting Steel Slitters with slitting sheet metal down to customer-specified sizes
  • Banding steel coils and preparing for shipment
  • Working on a shear with the other operators, and helping as needed
  • Looking for defects on the material as it moves on the line
  • Setting up skids
  • Maintaining a clean and organized work station, for the safety of yourself and others
  • Must be able to read & speak English fluently
  • Must be team-oriented, and work well with others
  • STEEL TOE BOOTS / SHOES REQUIRED
  • Excellent work history and attendance a must!

    Attendance / Hours required as part of the essential functions :

    Full-time, 40 hour, 5 day work week. Overtime to accommodate production schedules may be required.

    Physical requirements which are part of the essential functions :

  • Standing, sitting, moving, climbing, lifting up to 50 lbs, push / pull up to 50 lbs, bending, stooping, hearing or equivalent, sight-visual acuity.
  • Manual dexterity required for operating machinery and computers including fine, highly controlled muscular movements to adjust the position of a control mechanism; skillful, controlled manipulations of small objects; coordinating the movement of more than one limb simultaneously and bending or stooping repeatedly or continually over time.

    • Mental requirements which are part of the essential functions :

  • The ability to read and understand work instruction plans, diagrams and specifications.
  • Effectively communicate and interact with others.

    • Educational and or prior experience requirements include :

  • High school diploma or equivalent and 2 years relevant experience.
