What your evening looks like
In Lansing, MI, you arrive just before 3 : 00 pm, pull up the next job in NX / SolidWorks, and begin translating prints with GD&T into efficient toolpaths for Haas mills (and occasional lathe work). You validate offsets, run a first-article, and fine-tune feeds and speeds. Throughout the night you keep documentation tight, communicate cross-shift updates, and ensure quality stays locked in—wrapping up around 2 : 00 am. Overtime is available and eligible, and you’ll enjoy a steady rhythm with no Saturdays.

Tools, machines, and software
Machines : Haas mills; occasional CNC lathesSoftware : NX and SolidWorks; CAM softwareWhat you’ll own
Plan machining strategies by reviewing blueprints, materials, specifications, and assembly drawings.Interpret GD&T to achieve precise, conforming parts.Program CNC mills and lathes : set work / fixture offsets, define zeros, and input instructions / G-Code.Apply geometry and trigonometry to drive accurate setups and cuts.Inspect first-run and in-process parts to verify setup and conformance.Hold tolerances by monitoring operations and making process adjustments.Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area; follow all safety procedures.Perform preventive maintenance, basic troubleshooting, and minor repairs.Complete production, inspection, and quality logs with accuracy.Communicate updates across shifts to support throughput and continuity.Pursue training and continuous improvement to expand skills and efficiency.Recommend and implement process improvements aligned to production goals.Perform other duties as assigned.What helps you succeed
Ability to select proper tools, machines, and materials for each job.Hands-on machine maintenance knowledge : mechanics, shop math, metal properties, layouts, and machining procedures.Diagnostic mindset—observe and listen to equipment to identify malfunctions and needed adjustments / repairs.Ensure proper lubrication and cooling; verify operational efficiency.Clean and lubricate machines, tools, and equipment to remove grease, rust, stains, and foreign matter.Working knowledge of manufacturing processes.Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.Organized, with the ability to prioritize and work with limited supervision.Explain how and why conclusions are reached; maintain confidentiality.Perform under pressure and remain flexible to changing schedules and demands.Education & experience
High school diploma or associate degree from an accredited community college or vocational school.Relevant job experience / training may substitute for post-secondary education.Core proficiencies
