About the Job
The Machinist / Programmer will play a vital role in the production and fabrication of precision components used in high-energy systems. This position involves programming, setting up, and operating CNC equipment to produce mission-critical parts with exceptional accuracy. The ideal candidate thrives in a hands-on environment, collaborates effectively with engineers, and maintains a strong focus on safety and quality control.
What You’ll Do
- Set up and operate CNC mills and lathes (including 4-axis and Y-axis turning) for precision machining.
- Write, edit, and optimize CNC programs (HAAS) to ensure accuracy and productivity.
- Create tooling setups and inspect parts using calipers, micrometers, and CMM reports.
- Operate multiple CNC machines simultaneously and manage production schedules.
- Collaborate with design engineering teams to address manufacturability and material concerns.
- Maintain detailed records of part configurations and process documentation.
- Identify defects, write non-conformance reports, and assist in process improvements.
- Procure materials and tools as needed for machining projects.
- Train and mentor new machinists on programming, setup, and best practices.
Qualifications
Required :
High school diploma or GED with 4+ years of CNC machining experience (or equivalent education / experience).1+ years of professional experience setting up and operating CNC mills and / or lathes.1+ years of G-code reading and CNC programming experience.Proficiency in precision measurement tools (CMM, calipers, micrometers).Strong understanding of GD&T and machining mathematics.Familiarity with CAD / CAM software (SolidWorks, Fusion, Mastercam, etc.).Ability to develop and maintain equipment maintenance procedures and logs.Forklift certification (or ability to obtain).Willingness to work extended hours or weekends as needed.Must meet ITAR eligibility requirements (U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident).Preferred :
Experience programming and operating Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs).Familiarity with composite materials and fabrication techniques.Welding skills (TIG, Ultra-High Vacuum TIG, Electron Beam Welding).Knowledge of sheet metal and structural fabrication methods.About The Company
