Physician - Clinical Pathologist - Springfield Missouri

Mercy Hospital Springfield is seeking a full time Clinical Pathologist to join our busy medical practice with excellent work-life balance in Springfield, MO. We currently are a group of 7 AP / CP pathologists. Qualified applicants will be board-certified in Clinical Pathology. The job is hospital-based, requiring oversight of all Medical Director duties for the main hospital lab as well as surrounding critical access hospitals and laboratories. These duties include oversight of four total blood banks, with no apheresis coverage. Mercy Hospital Springfield is an 877-bed tertiary care facility with a level 1 trauma center.

Excellent team of technical supervisors and lab staff; recently completed CAP inspection with few deficiencies

Ability to collaborate with clinicians by serving on relevant hospital committees

Position Requires :

Board certification in Clinical Pathology. Transfusion Medicine boards are preferable but not required.

Transfusion Medicine coverage (after-hours calls are infrequent, colleagues cover during vacation, no apheresis coverage)

Sign out of peripheral smears and limited coagulation panels

Ability to hold at least 3 (but preferably 4 or 5) CLIA certificates

Minimal travel to surrounding critical access hospitals for periodic lab visits / inspections
