Area Sales Director (East Region) Full-Time | Remote with Travel | Reports to National Sales Director Location : East Region- States along the East Coast (Must reside in this area, and be willing to travel along the East Coast) Travel : 60% Position Overview The Area Sales Director (AD) leads a regional sales team consisting of Regional Sales Managers and Account Managers across the East Region. This role is responsible for driving revenue growth, supporting strategic accounts, and executing sales initiatives aligned with company goals. The AD provides leadership, coaching, and strategic direction while strengthening customer relationships across State & Local Government agencies and the dealer channel. This position also manages two to three key Strategic Accounts and plays a major role in reducing direct reports to the VP of Sales by providing strong regional support, development, and growth oversight. Key Responsibilities Sales Leadership & StrategyLead and mentor Regional Sales Managers and Account Managers across the East Region. Develop and execute multi-year regional sales strategies to meet and exceed quarterly and annual revenue targets. Identify major State & Local Government programs and position company for competitive capture. Oversee complex contract negotiations; coordinate with legal as needed. Collaborate with Marketing to identify opportunities, build capture strategies, and support go-to-market plans. Provide accurate sales forecasting and contribute to quarterly reporting. Customer & Partner EngagementBuild, maintain, and influence strong relationships with decision makers and stakeholders in assigned agencies. Deliver product presentations and support live demonstrations. Represent the company at trade shows, conferences, and partner events. Maintain up-to-date customer and opportunity data within the CRM system. Proposal & Technical SupportSupport development and pricing of State & Local Government proposals. Provide competitive and customer intelligence to Product Marketing. Maintain technical competency related to LMR solutions and industry trends. Administrative & Team ResponsibilitiesEnsure timely completion of administrative tasks including forecasting, reporting, and pipeline updates. Support the coordination of internal product groups and external partners to meet customer needs. Perform additional duties as assigned by leadership. Required Skills & Experience5+ years of technical / hardware sales or sales management experience. 5+ years selling LMR (Land Mobile Radio) communication systems. 5+ years developing sales initiatives, building customer relationships, and preparing pricing proposals. 3+ years supervisory or team leadership experience. Proven success achieving State & Local Government sales targets. Strong negotiation skills and ability to close complex government deals. Familiarity with government proposal processes. Strong proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and CRM platforms. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to work independently. Preferred QualificationsExperience leading cross-functional teams on government proposals. Strong understanding of government contracting vehicles, budget cycles, procurement policies, and grants. Proven track record of strategic planning, pipeline management, and meeting revenue / margin goals. Background in selling complex, end-to-end technical solutions. Experience working with senior-level government leadership. Demonstrated ability to identify market problems and create innovative solutions. Knowledge of LMR technology trends and government funding procedures. EducationBachelor’s degree required (business, technology, or related field preferred). Minimum five years of capture or government-focused sales experience preferred. Working ConditionsOffice-based and remote work environment. Requires regular sitting, walking, and computer use.
