We are seeking a part-time Automotive Technology Teaching Professional who will report to the Dean of Technical Studies. This person will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in automotive technology courses to students at Passaic County Community College at the Passaic Campus. The instructor will engage students in both theory and hands-on learning experiences and in various aspects of automotive repair and maintenance. This position will work both independently and in a small instructional team to deliver a quality automotive technology program for students.
This is a part-time, hourly position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver course curriculum in accordance with college guidelines and accreditation standards.
- Teach automotive technology courses, including but not limited to engine repair, electrical systems, and automotive diagnostics.
- Provide hands-on instruction in a lab setting, ensuring students gain practical skills.
- Assess student performance through assignments, quizzes, and practical exams.
- Maintain a safe and effective learning environment in the automotive lab.
- Stay current with automotive industry trends, technologies, and best practices.
- Collaborate with instructional team members to enhance the automotive program.
- Assist students in understanding career pathways and opportunities in the automotive field.
Qualifications:
- Associate degree in Automotive Technology or a related field; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Relevant industry certifications (e.g., ASE certification) are highly desirable.
- Previous teaching or training experience is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of automotive systems, repair techniques, and diagnostic tools.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively with a diverse student population
The completion of a background check will be required for the selected candidate.
Compensation: Compensation is determined by a variety of criteria, including but not limited to, previous relevant experience, education level, and certifications. The hourly pay rate for this position is $26.
