Registered Nurse (RN) – Med-Surg (Night Shift)

Shift: Nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Contract Length: 13 Weeks
Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
We are seeking an experienced Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse for a 13-week contract assignment. The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive nursing care to adult patients with a wide range of medical and post-operative conditions in a fast-paced hospital environment. Strong clinical judgment, adaptability, and effective communication skills are essential for success in this role.
Deliver high-quality nursing care to adult medical-surgical patients
Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans
Administer medications and manage IV therapies, including heparin, magnesium, and potassium riders
Monitor patient conditions and promptly recognize and respond to changes
Collaborate effectively with physicians, case management, and the interdisciplinary healthcare team
Maintain accurate and timely documentation in Meditech
Adhere to hospital policies, nursing standards, and patient safety guidelines
Serve as charge nurse when assigned
Adult medical-surgical patients
Common diagnoses include sepsis, COPD, CHF, post-operative recovery, plastics, and general medical conditions
ALC (Awaiting Long-Term Care placement) patients
Typical nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:5–6
Active New York State RN license
Minimum one successful travel assignment completed (first-time travelers not considered)
BLS and ACLS certifications required
Meditech experience required
Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
Strong organizational, communication, and critical-thinking skills
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment
