The University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine (UNR Med) invites applications for the role of Assistant to the Dean. This role provides executive level support to the Dean as a critical member of the Dean's Office operational team. In close collaboration with this team, including the Director of Strategic Initiatives to whom this role reports, the Assistant supports the Dean and coordinates the Dean's outreach activities, travel, and meeting schedules / preparation. The position coordinates events, communication, and projects in support of the academic research and service mission of UNR Med in alignment with the Dean's goals and initiatives. This role acts as a liaison to faculty, staff, UNR Med leaders and University leadership, as well as executives representing UNR Med's affiliate partners and other community entities.
At its core, this role must be able to build highly professional relationships based on trust and expertise to facilitate the work of the Dean. This includes understanding the nuances of the University and its systems, the structure and time management that best supports the Dean's working style, an ability to anticipate needs and prepare accordingly, communicate clearly and consistently, and adapt to a landscape of shifting priorities to maintain operational efficiency. Key skills of the ideal candidate include judgment, problem solving, and flexibility under tight timelines while maintaining a positive, professional demeanor.
A high degree of organizational skill is required to be successful in the role, including digital calendaring and communication as well as physical material preparation. Comfort with office technology will support the speed and accuracy expected from the incumbent. An exceptional eye for detail, as well as the ability to consider all aspects and implications for a project as it is brought to fruition, are must-have competencies for the Assistant to the Dean.
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma and three years of related work experience OR
Associate's Degree and two years of related work experience OR
Bachelor's Degree and one year of related experience OR
Master's Degree
Related Experience :
