Telemetry Tech - Health Unit Clerk / Post Surgical Unit / PT / Days

The Telemetry Tech / Health Unit Clerk works under the general direction of the Manager, Post Surgical Unit, CNO, and Medical staff. The Telemetry technician monitors, evaluates, and documents cardiac rhythm readings. Observes and assesses cardiac rhythms by monitoring equipment. Ensures that alarms are set for low and high heart rates and are functioning correctly. Measure and document cardiac rhythm intervals recorded on rhythm strips for each patient according to rhythm changes. Place documentation in the patient's chart. Communicates with professional personnel on the cardiac rhythm of patients. Notifies personnel immediately of any life-threatening cardiac rhythms.

Assists nursing staff in providing support to patients, families, visitors, physicians, and vendors. The position involves clerical duties such as entering physician orders, compiling charts, greeting visitors, stocking and organizing supplies, communicating with all customers, and assisting staff in keeping the work desk area clean and clutter-free. Assisting in traffic control, may be required to assist in patient transfer. Assist in recovering lost charges. Computer entry.

Qualifications :

• High School Graduate
• Previous experience in secretarial / receptionist role
• Accredited Telemetry certification preferred or 2+ years of previous experience reading, interpreting, and measuring telemetry.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• BLS required
• Must be able to pass the EKG test on hire and annually
• Computer skills with Word, Excel, and a computer charting system
• Telephone etiquette
