Position Description & Qualifications
Join our team as an Engineering Technician III and play a crucial role in supporting our IMCOM Video Management System (VMS) Upgrade team! This position involves extensive travel, including international assignments, and allows you to work remotely from anywhere in the United States.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the installation and configuration of server hardware and software for the video management system (VMS) following established standards.
- Conduct thorough testing of the VMS to ensure optimal functionality.
- Follow detailed instructions to assemble or service equipment, as well as conduct necessary repairs.
- Implement effective cable management and terminate Cat 6 cables adhering to the T568B color code standard.
- Verify the integrity of electrical connections, ensuring they are secure.
- Analyze and address technical issues concerning VMS endpoints.
- Perform administrative tasks, including timekeeping and expense reporting, adhering to company policies.
- Maintain a high standard of safety by following OSHA guidelines.
- Demonstrate proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and cable testers.
- Engage in teamwork that fosters cooperation and productivity.
- Occasionally take on additional duties as required.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A willingness to travel up to 90% of the time, both CONUS and OCONUS, potentially for up to four months consecutively.
- The ability to obtain a passport within 60 days of hire.
- A favorable determination from the National Agency Check (NACI).
- U.S. Citizenship.
- Access to military installations and eligibility for a Common Access Card (CAC).
- A valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- A High School Diploma or GED.
- At least 2 years of experience with VMS and server equipment, demonstrating troubleshooting capabilities.
- A minimum of 1 year of experience in installing rack equipment and cabling.
- Strong troubleshooting skills for hardware, software, and networking devices.
- Experience in cable pulling, dressing, and terminating per 568B standards.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with team members and clients.
- Basic computer skills including MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- A timely execution of administrative tasks like timekeeping and expense reporting.
- A willingness to work over 40 hours per week when necessary.
- Flexibility for after-hours work based on customer requirements.
- The ability to work in various physical environments, including confined spaces and situations with temperature fluctuations.
- The capacity to lift up to 50 pounds and manage physical tasks that involve standing, kneeling, or walking for extended periods.
- The flexibility to work in adverse weather conditions as required.
Additional Desired Qualifications:
- Familiarity with Pelco, Genetec, or similar VMS platforms.
- A military background.
- Current OSHA and/or BISCI certifications.
- A valid U.S. passport.
- An active DoD Secret Level Security Clearance.
