- Responsibilities
- Assist licensed occupational therapists in developing and implementing individualized care plans tailored to each patients needs.
- Support patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), such as dressing, grooming, and mobility exercises, fostering independence and confidence.
- Provide hands-on therapy interventions in various settings, including inpatient units, outpatient clinics, skilled nursing facilities, and home health visits.
- Monitor patient progress, document observations accurately, and communicate updates to the therapy team to ensure optimal care adjustments.
- Educate patients and their families on therapeutic exercises and strategies to promote continued progress outside of sessions.
- Maintain a safe environment by adhering to infection control protocols and safety procedures during all patient interactions.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care plans that incorporate medical imaging results, physiology knowledge, anatomy understanding, and medical terminology for comprehensive treatment.
- Requirements
- Valid certification as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) from an accredited program.
- Prior experience working in inpatient settings, outpatient clinics, skilled nursing facilities, or home health environments is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and occupational health principles.
- Proven ability to assist with ADLs and support patients across diverse age groupsincluding pediatrics and geriatrics.
- Experience working with care plans that involve acute care or outpatient therapy modalities.
- Excellent patient care skills with a compassionate approach to supporting recovery and independence.
- Ability to work effectively in fast-paced environments while maintaining attention to detail and safety standards.
