Job Summary

As a Supplemental Physical Therapist, you will assess patients and create tailored treatment plans based on comprehensive evaluations. This includes measuring neuromuscular and skeletal functions. You will document findings, track progress, and provide guidance to patients and their caregivers. Additionally, you will collaborate with other physical therapists and management to enhance program development while serving as a mentor and resource for assistants, students, and rehabilitation technicians.

A Physical Therapist practicing direct access will evaluate patients to identify movement and mobility challenges without diagnosing illness. If a diagnosis is already provided by a healthcare professional, you will incorporate that information into your evaluations.

We are looking for a dedicated Physical Therapist (PT) to join our acute care team! This is a supplemental position with a minimum shift expectation of two weekend days (Saturdays and / or Sundays) every six weeks. Shifts are from 8 : 00 AM to 4 : 30 PM, with flexibility available.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education : Bachelor's or advanced degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited university program.
  • Licenses / Certifications : Current license to practice Physical Therapy in Texas, or by the Physical Therapy Compact Commission, and Certification in Basic Life Support.

For a Physical Therapist practicing direct access :

  • Education : Doctoral degree plus completion of a residency or fellowship program, OR a licensed therapist with 30 hours of continuing education in differential diagnosis.
  • Licenses / Certifications : Current license to practice Physical Therapy in Texas or by the Physical Therapy Compact Commission.

    • Experience / Knowledge / Skills :

  • Preferred one year of experience.
  • Demonstrates willingness and ability to mentor and train staff or supervise clinical interns / students.
  • Provides clinical leadership and develops expertise in specific patient types / groups.
  • Serves as a clinical resource for committees or task forces; may lead ongoing departmental studies or interests.
  • Designs and implements staff development programs to enhance clinical competencies.
  • Requires occasional frequent lifting of up to 75 / 100 pounds and carrying up to 30 pounds; involves prolonged standing, frequent walking, stooping, and squatting.
  • Possesses fine hand dexterity and eye-hand coordination, essential for monitoring instruments and communicating effectively.
  • Visual ability to monitor equipment, recognize alphanumeric characters, distinguish colors, and observe physical characteristics is crucial.
  • Ability to commit to a flexible schedule and adapt to patient care area changes as necessary.
