Job Summary

The CDL Class A Driver (LTL) is responsible for driving a tractor-trailer combination or straight truck to deliver and pick up palletized freight and/or large shipments.

Hours and Wages

* Monday-Friday, 7:30AM start - completion of route

* 10-15 hours of overtime expected each week

* Paid OT at time and a half after 40 hours per week

* $23.00-$27.00 per hour, based on experience

Duties and Responsibilities

* Conduct a pre-trip inspection before driving to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment are in good working order

* Turn in pre-trip form and complete mileage and maintenance forms

* Deliver palletized freight in a timely manner to customers and pick up freight from shippers

* Verify all load-related documentation to ensure that it is complete and accurate

* Collect payment for shipments as necessary and return bill of ladings to the office for billing purposes

* Maintain all required certifications required by DOT and company safety policies

* Wash the exterior of tractor and equipment daily

* Assist other drivers with loading, delivery, or pick up as needed

Skills and Abilities

* Ability to operate a manual transmission

* Must possess or have the ability to obtain a doubles/triples endorsement

* Must possess good customer service and organizational skills

* Must be able to work independently and make quick decisions

Education and Experience

* At least 21 years of age

* High school diploma or equivalent preferred

* Hold a valid CDL Class A driver's license with a good driving record that meets company standards

Physical Requirements

* Ability to pass a DOT physical

* Ability to lift 50 pounds regularly up to 100 pounds occasionally

* Full range of motion with no limits on grasping, standing, squatting, stair climbing, walking, etc.

* Ability to work with all types to freight which include, but are not limited to hazardous material, perishable food and alcohol, firearms, ammunition, and live animals
