Union Rear Load Garbage Truck Driver

Compensation & Schedule

  • Starting Pay : Starting wage is $30.49 / hour, which is 91% of the full union scale. Full scale is $33.51 / hour, as outlined in the Teamsters Local 313 collective bargaining agreement.
  • Schedule : MondayFriday, occasional Saturdays as needed
  • Hours : Approximately 45 hours per week

    • Key Responsibilities

  • Safely operate a rear-load garbage truck along designated routes
  • Collect refuse and recyclables according to route sheets
  • Perform routine vehicle inspections and basic maintenance
  • Operate hydraulic controls to lift and dispose of waste
  • Maintain professional and courteous interactions with customers
  • Perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, pushing, and pulling items over 100 lbs

    • Working Conditions

  • Outdoor work in varying weather conditions
  • Exposure to mechanical parts, moderate noise, and occasional fumes
  • Frequent heavy lifting and adherence to strict safety protocols

    • Minimum Requirements

  • Valid Class B CDL with air brake endorsement (Class A not required)
  • Candidates must have a minimum of one year of experience in waste management, trucking, or heavy equipment operation, and must not have held more than three jobs in the past five years.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Basic knowledge of truck components for pre- and post-trip inspections
  • SAFETY SENSITIVE : YES
