We are currently seeking a highly skilled Gastroenterology Physician for a locum tenens assignment near Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. This is an excellent opportunity for a physician looking for flexibility while delivering exceptional care in a well-established hospital setting.

Job Details :

  • Location : Near Harrisburg, PA
  • Position Type : Locum Tenens
  • Start Date : December 8, 2024
  • End Date : June 8, 2025
  • Coverage Type : Scheduled clinical hours with call responsibilities
  • Practice Setting : Primarily inpatient

Key Responsibilities :

  • Provide comprehensive gastroenterology care, focusing on both diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, such as :

    • Upper GI endoscopy with biopsy, foreign body removal, and variceal treatment.

  • ERCP (diagnostic and therapeutic), PEG placement, and esophageal dilatation.
  • Colonoscopy with biopsy and polyp removal.
  • Endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) and liver biopsy.
  • Management of gastrointestinal bleeding and use of specialized tools such as the Sengstaken / Blakemore tube.
  • Call responsibilities are required, with a focus on weekend coverage. Response time for beeper call must be within 30 minutes.

    • Requirements :

  • Board Certification : Must be board certified in Gastroenterology.
  • Fellowship : Completion of a Gastroenterology fellowship is required.
  • Licensure : Must have a valid Pennsylvania medical license or be eligible through the Interstate Medical Licensure Compact (IMLC).
  • Certifications : ACLS and BLS certifications are required.
  • Experience : Proficiency in various gastroenterology procedures, including ERCP, EUS, and advanced endoscopic techniques.

    • Additional Information :

  • Privileges : Temporary hospital privileges available, with an estimated credentialing timeframe of 90-120 days.
  • Call Type : Beeper call, with a 30-minute response time.
  • Support Staff : Strong support from nursing and administrative teams; no supervision of advanced practice providers is required.
  • Travel & Lodging : Assistance with travel and lodging can be provided.
