Position Summary

The Site Medical Director (SOMD) is responsible for overseeing the provision of Hanford Occupational Medical Services and advising DOE on medical issues.

Relocation assistance will be considered for this role.

Core Responsibilities

• Oversee staff of professionals that provide clinical services.
• Consult as needed with clinic physician assistants (PAs) or nurse practitioners (NPs).
• Apply appropriate DOE directives in the workplace.
• Participate in meetings and committees, as requested.
• Provide assessment and treatment of work-related illnesses and injuries.
• Develop and maintain policies and procedures, and assist with interpretation if needed.
• Provide urgent care for non-work-related injuries and illnesses to support site activities.
• Manage and organize a team's work to be delivered with efficiency, effectiveness and accuracy while meeting budget requirements and standards of excellence for the clinic.
• Assist with recruiting and managing physicians, nurses and other medical and non-medical staff, and oversee training execution appropriate for the clinic.
• Fully understand the internal processes of all departments.
• Examine and coordinate the clinic's activities to guarantee medical quality.
