Position Summary: Under the direction of the Dean of Students, the Cafeteria & Recess Monitor is to help provide a safe learning environment for the students, teachers, and other school staff. The monitor is to assist with the supervision of students during unstructured times in hallways, i.e. transitions and bathroom breaks, in the cafeteria during breakfast or lunch, and during indoor and outdoor recess.

Working Conditions: Will work indoors in the hallways and lunchroom as well as outside when there is outdoor recess. Work very near others, within a few feet or less. Working in close contact with young children. Ability to stand and circulate for extended periods of time. Ability to hear and understand speech at normal levels. Ability to communicate so others will be able to clearly understand normal conversation.
Physical Requirements: Employees in this classification may be subject to work environments that have exposure to weather or interiors with extremes of heat and/or cold, wet and/or humid conditions, high noise levels, and various work-related hazards. Ability to carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects and lift 30 lbs. This type of work involves standing/walking most of the time but may involve sitting for brief periods.
