Position Description

The Department of Ethnic Studies at Chaffey College as a new department is seeking dynamic scholar-teachers whose scholarship and teaching are centered on the cultures and histories of communities that have played a vital force in shaping America.

The Department of Ethnic Studies at Chaffey College is committed to the scholarly teachings and representations of the four core disciplines in the field which are comprised of Native American Studies, African American Studies, Chicanx and Latinx Studies, and Asian American Studies. Chicanx Studies & Latinx Studies at Chaffey College focuses on and prioritizes the culture, experiences, and contributions of Chicanx and Latinx communities with the context of U.S. society and culture. Chicanx Studies and Latinx Studies explores pre-columban communities, conquest, colonization, assimilation, migration and immigration all while historically contributing to the United States society in dynamic and multiple ways; economic, political, international, culture, social, class, and education. May include teaching in the prisons and / or high school dual enrollment. Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Master's degree in Chicano Studies OR Ethnic Studies; OR
• The equivalent; OR
• A valid lifetime credential that authorizes service as an Ethnic Studies Instructor in a California Community College; AND
• Demonstrated evidence of sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds in a community college environment.
