The Safety Intern will support the Health & Safety team by assisting with safety initiatives, compliance activities, and site observations. This internship is designed to provide exposure to the construction safety field, develop practical skills in hazard recognition, and gain hands-on experience with regulatory requirements, company safety systems, and risk management processes. The role provides mentorship from experienced safety professionals and the opportunity to learn about careers in safety management.

Looking for interns at the following locations : Reading, DC, MD, NJ, DE, PA, OH, MI, NY, WV locations available.

Duties and responsibilities :

Assist in researching and staying current on federal, state, county, and local safety regulations. Keep management advised of new or revised rules.

Help prepare and distribute safety materials including toolbox talks, training documents, and safety signage.

Attend and participate in jobsite safety meetings with project teams and subcontractors.

Shadow Safety Managers during inspections and assist with documenting observations.

Support data entry and recordkeeping in company safety software (incident logs, audits, training records).

Assist in accident / incident documentation and learn about claims management and return-to-work programs.

Participate in safety observations and hazard recognition activities.

Assist with PPE inventory, distribution, and training coordination.

Maintain a positive and professional work atmosphere while engaging with coworkers, clients, and subcontractors.

Assist safety team with recommendations and assistance to project managers, superintendents, field supervision and employees concerning jobsite hazards, employee training, new equipment, and materials.

Keep the Safety Manager, Safety Director and Branch Managers informed of pertinent issues.

Qualifications :

High school diploma required.

Pursuing a BA or BS in Health and Safety, Construction Management, or a related field.

Must have valid drivers license.

OSHA 10 or 30 Hour Construction preferred but not required.
