SUMMARY
The Second Shift Computer Operator supports daily and after-hours operations for Teknor Apex’s computing environments. This role is responsible for monitoring M3CE Production and Test tenants, related operational platforms, automated job processing, system alerts, and application workflows. The operator follows documented procedures to ensure system stability, data integrity, and successful completion of scheduled processing.
The position also provides basic Help Desk support during the assigned shift, maintains accurate operator logs, and escalates issues outside the normal operational scope to on-call support personnel when appropriate. Clear communication, attention to detail, and consistent adherence to procedures are essential to ensuring continuity of operations across shifts.
Regular working hours are from 4 : 30 PM to 12 : 30 AM Eastern Time. The role also requires participation in scheduled split-shift coverage, which may include overnight hours beginning around 9 : 30 PM to support month-end processing and provide vacation coverage for the third shift.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Monitor M3CE Production and Test tenants, associated operational platforms, automated job processing, system alerts, and application workflows using Windows-based monitoring tools to identify and respond to operational issues in accordance with documented procedures.
- Verifies successful completion of scheduled processing activities and performs defined recovery actions based on job logs, escalating issues outside normal operational scope when required.
- Performs and monitors M3CE tenant exports and imports to support tenant refresh activities between source and target tenants, validating execution and reporting anomalies in accordance with established procedures.
- Executes routine operational tasks, including application promotions, restarts, and controlled system reboots, following documented procedures and operational guidelines.
- Provides basic Help Desk support during the assigned shift by responding to requests received via phone or ticketing system and coordinating resolution or escalation as appropriate.
- Conducts routine operator system checks and maintains detailed operator logs documenting system status, actions taken, issues encountered, and handoff notes for subsequent shifts.
- Reviews prior-shift logs and communications to ensure continuity of operations and awareness of outstanding issues or required follow-up actions.
- Coordinates with on-call support personnel for escalated issues that fall outside normal operational scope, providing accurate status and documentation during incident response.
- Communicates effectively with IT staff, application teams, and business users to support issue resolution and operational continuity.
- Supports time-sensitive operational responsibilities associated with second shift operations, including split-shift coverage and month-end processing.
SHIFT & SCHEDULING REQUIREMENTS
This is a designated second-shift position with standard working hours of 4 : 30 PM to 12 : 30 AM Eastern Time.When providing vacation coverage for the third shift, the role requires participation in a scheduled split shift, which includes overnight coverage from approximately 9 : 30 PM to 7 : 30 AM Eastern Time.If the last calendar day of the month falls on a Saturday or Sunday, month-end processing coverage is required. During these weekends, coverage hours are approximately 9 : 30 PM to 3 : 00 AM Eastern Time.The role requires flexibility to work extended or adjusted hours as needed during scheduled processing events or system promotions.REQUIRED EDUCATION
High School diploma or GED.REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
Two to four years of related experience in IT operations, computer operations, production support, or service desk environments.Experience working with the Windows operating system.SKILLS & CAPABILITIES
Ability to follow documented procedures and execute time-sensitive operational tasks accurately.Working knowledge of production system monitoring, operational platforms, automated job processing, and operational support concepts.Strong attention to detail, reliability, and operational discipline in a shift-based environment.Effective written and verbal communication skills for documentation, handoffs, escalation, and cross-team coordination.Ability to adapt to changing priorities and respond calmly to operational issues.Ability to balance operational responsibilities with Help Desk or IT Operations support as assigned.Willingness to learn and support multiple platforms, applications, and operational tools.PHYSICAL DEMANDS (ADA COMPLIANT)
