Responsibilities Essential Functions • Demonstrates professional judgment in service delivery and maintains a demeanor complimentary to quality care. • Delivers appropriate care, recognizes patient conditions, and ensures successful completion of procedures and guidelines. • Assists the physician in producing diagnostic imaging and related procedures to demonstrate anatomy for interpretation and / or intervention. • Assists the physician in all procedures as necessary. • Ensures that the patient’s education of procedure performed, needs, safety and comfort are met while in their care. • Complies with all state and federal regulations applicable to each modality. • Adheres to Orlando Health’s mission statement and strategic imperatives. • Assesses the patient’s physical condition and age-specific needs. • Provides instructions to achieve patient cooperation and desired results. • Performs proper patient identification, acquires patient’s clinical history, and ensures accurate documentation and communication to the appropriate team members. • Positions patient, equipment, and associated devices. Manipulates technical factors to achieve high-quality images for interpretation. • Assesses diagnostic images for technical quality, proper annotation, and patient identification, ensuring that all relative anatomy is demonstrated. • Applies principles of radiation safety to minimize exposure to patients,self, and others. • Comprehends and complies with Quality Control standards and participates in all Quality Control tasks. • Demonstrates proficiency in contrast medication administration with and without use of power injectors. • Applies sterile techniques and appropriate standard precautions in utilizing Personal Protective equipment(PPE) to prevent cross-contamination in accordance with OH policy and training procedures. • Administers medical aid as required in cases of adverse reactions to contrast medication and / or other emergencies. • Assists in the supervision of student technologists and the training of new technologists. • Utilizes all Corporate Radiology computer systems effectively and accurately. • Demonstrates proficiency in supply usage, charging, and documentation. • Ensures the safety of all customers. • Demonstrates knowledge regarding location, use, and troubleshooting of complex technical equipment and instruments. Acts as a resource for its operation and training. • Maintains the use of customer service skills in communication with all Orlando Health staff, visitors, and co-workers. • Maintains adequate inventory levels of supplies, equipment, resources, tools, and forms. • Performs as a mentor / preceptor for new staff while maintaining high standards of patient care, documentation, and professionalism. • Understands the application and technical aspects of all equipment and supplies used in all procedures. • Ensures that case turnover time is within established department standards by maintaining proper workflow and prioritizing optimal patient care. • Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards. • Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures, department guidelines, and education requirements. Other Related Functions • Demonstrates awareness of legal issues, patients’ rights, and compliance with the standards of regulatory and accrediting agencies. • Notifies Biomed and / or vendors as appropriate to resolve issues and reports incidents to the supervisor. • Assists in developing and implementing essential policies and procedures. • Stays informed on all procedural changes and equipment updates. • Participates in process improvement activities as assigned. • Ensures work areas are well-stocked and organized. • Works at any facility as required by operational needs or organizational demands. • Assists in the collection of QA data. • Participates in processes to ensure that all OSHA, JC, FDA regulations are adhered to within the department. • Takes responsibility for professional growth and continuing education to maintain licensure. • Maintains cleanliness of work area and equipment. • Provides patient transport. Qualifications Education / Training Graduate of accredited school of Radiologic Technology.
