Position Overview
The Network Engineer will be responsible for operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting network connectivity and infrastructure across Mission Technologies environments. This role supports multiple networks across varying classification levels and ensures continuous, secure connectivity for customers and sites.
The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience in network operations, on-site support, and troubleshooting complex LAN / WAN environments, including routers, switches, firewalls, and WAN circuits.
Key Responsibilities
Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot LAN, WAN, and VPN environments
Provide network connectivity support, including WAN circuits, equipment failures, routing and switching configurations, and firewall ACLs
Coordinate with commercial circuit providers for implementation and issue resolution
Maintain Information Assurance compliance, including IOS upgrades, configuration changes, and firewall verification
Support remote and on-site locations in restoring network outages and failures
Plan, evaluate, and coordinate installation or reconfiguration of network hardware and software
Maintain technical expertise across routers, switches, firewalls, gateways, and related network components
Prepare and maintain network documentation, including operational procedures and diagrams
Perform regular network monitoring and analysis for short- and long-term capacity planning
Propose and implement network solutions to optimize performance and cost efficiency
Coordinate third-party maintenance and support services as needed
Design networks or portions of networks, including selection of hardware and software solutions
Participate in periodic on-call or shifted schedules, including evenings, nights, and weekends
Required Qualifications
Minimum 5+ years of experience in network operations and support
Demonstrated hands-on experience with on-site network operations and physical infrastructure
Proven experience supporting local and remote sites, including installations and upgrades
Strong troubleshooting experience in LAN / WAN environments
Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance
Preferred Qualifications
CCNP certification or equivalent (strongly preferred)
Experience with multi-cloud network configurations
Strong experience installing and troubleshooting WAN and LAN equipment and circuits
Hands-on experience with Palo Alto firewalls (monitoring, maintenance, and troubleshooting)
Advanced troubleshooting skills at the protocol and packet level using sniffers, protocol analyzers, NetFlow, and logging tools
Strong understanding of :
Cisco networking (IP addressing, VLANs, VTP, 802.1Q, OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, multicast, Cisco IOS)
Fortinet networking (IP addressing, VLANs, routing protocols, Fortinet OS)
Solid knowledge of IP networking fundamentals, OSI model, and packet / frame structures
Experience in network operations environments including help desk, ticketing systems, and customer communication
Experience with network and performance monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds)
Experience with network security technologies including firewalls, VRFs, port security, and 802.1X
Familiarity with Cisco VoIP technologies, including PoE switches and Call Manager
