Summary :
The Assistant Project Manager (APM) supports the Project Manager with planning, coordinating, and executing civil construction projects. This role helps ensure work is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and according to project specifications. The APM works closely with field teams, subcontractors, vendors, and clients.
Key Responsibilities : Project Coordination
- Assist with day-to-day project management activities
- Help prepare schedules, submittals, RFIs, and project documentation
- Track project progress and update logs and reports
- Support coordination between field teams, subcontractors, and suppliers
- Attend project meetings and assist with preparing meeting minutes
Field Support
Visit job sites regularly to monitor progress and complianceAssist with resolving field issues and communicating updates to the project teamEnsure quality control standards and project specifications are being followedHelp review daily reports, quantities, and productivity trackingBudget & Cost Control
Assist with tracking project costs and reviewing invoicesSupport estimating team with quantity takeoffs and bid preparationHelp monitor materials, equipment, and labor budgetsNotify Project Manager of any cost impacts or changesDocument Management
Maintain organized project files and documentationPrepare and process change orders under PM guidanceAssist with closeout documents, warranties, and final deliverablesEnsure all documents meet company and client standardsSafety & Compliance
Support enforcement of company safety policies on job sitesHelp ensure environmental, permitting, and regulatory requirements are metCommunicate potential safety concerns to supervisorsQualifications :
1–3 years of experience in civil construction, project coordination, or related field preferredKnowledge of civil construction practices (grading, utilities, concrete, roadway, drainage, etc.)Strong organizational and communication skillsAbility to read and interpret plans and specificationsProficient with basic computer tools (Microsoft Office, project management software, etc.)Valid driver's license and ability to travel to job sitesHigh school diploma required; associate or bachelor's degree in construction management or related field preferred (not required)Work Environment :
