Medical Assistant – Clinic Setting

Hourly Rate : $22.23 – $27.37 (based on experience)

Required Certifications : Medical Assistant Certification, BLS

Position Overview

The Medical Assistant (MA) plays a crucial role in managing patient flow and supporting providers within a collaborative clinic environment. Working with a diverse patient population—infants to geriatrics—the MA ensures effective, individualized patient care by performing both clinical and administrative tasks under the guidance of supervising nurses and providers, in accordance with Minnesota Board of Nursing and Board of Medical Practice standards.

This position is ideal for professionals passionate about patient interaction, flexible multitasking, and delivering high-quality care in a fast-paced healthcare setting.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Care Duties

Room patients and manage patient flow efficiently.

Administer immunizations, medications, and injections as prescribed.

Collect and process laboratory specimens; perform in-clinic lab tests and phlebotomy (as applicable).

Provide support for prescription refills and patient communication.

Take and relay patient messages or clinical concerns via phone.

Perform limited radiology (X-ray) duties, if certified or willing to complete X-ray operator exam.

Clinic Support Functions

Support front desk operations including patient check-in.

Order and stock medical and office supplies.

Assist with prior authorizations and coordination of care tasks.

Compliance & Safety

Comply with North Memorial Health’s Corporate Code of Conduct.

Protect confidential patient information in accordance with HIPAA and internal standards.

Recognize and report any legal, regulatory, or procedural concerns.

Qualifications

Education

High School Diploma or GED – Required

Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program – Required

Certifications

Medical Assistant Certification – Required

BLS (Basic Life Support) – Required

Passed X-ray operator’s exam or willingness to take it if required for clinic

Experience

Prior experience in a clinical / healthcare setting – Required

Computer proficiency and strong multitasking skills

Travel Requirements

Travel using personal vehicle may be required depending on clinic (especially for Occupational Medicine roles).
