Job Description

Job Title : CAT Scan Technologist

Profession : Radiologic Technology

Specialty : CT Imaging

Duration : Full-Time

Shift : Mon-Fri 2 : 30pm-10 : 30pm, alternating weekends / holidays

Hours per Shift : 8 hours

Experience : Relevant training and experience in operating CT equipment

License : NY State DOH License or Limited Permit required

Certifications : ARRT registered (RT) and (CT), BLS certification

Must-Have :

• Graduate of an accredited radiography school or hospital-based program.
• Documented training in radiation physics and protection.
• Commitment to continuing education requirements.

Description :

Performs routine imaging and some special procedure imaging.

Prepares patients for procedures and assists radiologists.

Operates and cares for the imaging equipment being used.

Processes images when needed and adheres to established standards of care.

Applies principles of radiation protection to minimize exposure to patients and others.

Assumes responsibility for assigned area and duties.

Adheres to customer service programs.

Performs quality assurance and other duties as assigned.

Exercises professional judgment in all procedures.

Understands and adheres to performance standards and policies.

Prepares and positions patients correctly for specific examinations.

Reviews completed exams for quality and completeness.

Assists physicians during procedures as necessary.

Performs equipment quality assurance and calibrations as needed.

Maintains cleanliness of work areas and reports malfunctioning equipment.

Processes images or prints CDs as needed.

Performs routine office duties, including documentation on patients.

Notifies transport when patients are ready to be picked up.

May be assigned as an instructor or preceptor.

Treats all individuals in a professional and courteous manner.

Utilizes two patient identifiers and explains the exam to patients or family.

Provides care to diverse patient populations, including neonates, pediatrics, adults, and geriatrics.

Performs quality assurance tasks and calibrations as required.

Attends staff meetings and in-services.

Duties and hours may change according to departmental needs.

On standby / call for emergency department coverage.

Performs additional related duties as assigned.

Familiar with department-specific protocols and policies.
