Job Title : Materials and Process Engineer
Job Description
This role defines requirements for materials, parts, and processes used in the manufacture of products. The engineer produces specifications and documentation to manage the deployment of these materials and processes while ensuring compliance with contractual and regulatory obligations. The position promotes standardization across business activities and evaluates emerging technologies for potential application to business needs. Additionally, the engineer develops and qualifies new materials, parts, and processes, integrates new technologies, and manages test and audit programs to qualify suppliers. The role also involves conducting analyses to determine the causes of material failures and implementing corrective and preventive actions.
Responsibilities
- Provide materials and flammability engineering support for newly built and soon-to-be-delivered aircraft.
- Support certification and compliance testing activities for new airplane deliveries.
- Perform materials obsolescence testing and evaluation, including analysis of replacement materials and qualification impacts.
- Develop, draft, and author test plans in accordance with procedures and FAA requirements.
- Execute or support materials, joint, and flammability testing, including burn, heat release, and smoke testing as applicable.
- Draft, review, and approve test reports and compliance documentation for internal and regulatory use.
- Analyze test data and historical reports to assess materials performance, compliance status, and certification risk.
- Use computer-based tools and databases for analysis, documentation, and reporting.
- Coordinate with design engineering, manufacturing, quality, suppliers, and certification authorities.
- Support supplier qualification and audit activities related to materials and processes.
- Verify that materials, joints, and assemblies comply with FAA flammability and fire protection requirements.
- Support investigations related to material failures, non-conformances, or incorrect installations.
- Recommend and support corrective and preventive actions to ensure long-term compliance and manufacturing stability.

The position operates on a first shift with start times between 7 : 00 - 8 : 00 am and end times between 3 : 30 – 4 : 30 pm. The work is performed 100% onsite in Everett, WA.

This is a Contract position based out of Everett, WA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $60.00 / hr.
