Position Description : St Joseph Village is immediately hiring CNA's. The Saint Joseph Village is a senior living community in Coppell, TX, and part of the Forefront Living family. Our mission is to come together and make each moment matter for those we serve.

\tModel a servant and solutions-oriented attitude towards others, takes ownership in solving problems and takes the initiative to make things better, is friendly and courteous to residents, patients and co-workers
\tEnsure resident / patient, visitor, and co-worker safety by remaining aware of and reporting any new or existing safety hazards
\tMaintain good attendance record
\tMake beds, straighten rooms and keep resident care areas in an organized and clean manner, ensuring the entire nursing floor is kept orderly
\tRespects resident's rights by : (knocks on doors before entering room, addresses resident by name, allows resident to make own decisions when appropriate, promotes independence)
\tProvides safe resident transfers involving bed, wheelchair and / or shower chair, uses the gait belt with all transfers, to protect resident from complications and injuries
\tTakes and records temperature, pulse, blood pressure and respirations as required
\tAssists resident with simple range of motion or other exercises as directed by nurse or therapist and ambulates resident safely according to his / her endurance levels
\tApplies medical or adaptive devices as ordered by the appropriate supervising nurse
\tMakes rounds to ensure residents safety, comfort, medical attention every hour or as required by the residents
\tCollects specimens as directed
\tCompletes weights for each resident as required
\tSets up meal tray and assists with feeding as necessary. Assesses for choking and responds appropriately
\tEnsures residents and equipment are clean after meals, including hands, and removes clothing protectors
\tAccurately documents care given to residents including the documentation of reportable resident problems (i.e. ADL sheets, B&B sheets, meal percentages, I&O, s / s of skin breakdowns, etc.)
\tReports changes in resident condition to the supervising nurse and / or Director of Assisted Living immediately (i.e. changes in skin conditions, urinary changes, etc.) Reports problems with completion of assignments
\tHandles confidential information appropriately
\tDemonstrates flexibility with changing work demands
\tReports to charge nurse : equipment and supply needs, repair / maintenance needs, safety hazards and unusual occurrences or observations
\tAttends and participates in appropriate in-service and staff meetings to improve knowledge and skills and to maintain competency and certification
\tWears prescribed uniform, follows prescribed dress code, wears name tag appropriately and maintains a professional image to the public and residents
\tAssists the Assisted Living department and other departments when required in other duties and tasks when asked
\tProvides appropriate interventions for resident behavior per care plan, utilizes distraction and validation techniques as appropriate and encourages resident independence
\tAssists residents to and from activities of choice and encourages the resident to participate in activities of choice
\tAssists Activity Director as needed with activities and if necessary, leads activity
\tOther duties as assigned
WORK ENVIRONMENT : Indoors 95%; travel to other buildings outside; exposed to weather conditions by foot.
WORK PACE : Fast-paced. Able to juggle multiple needs at one time. Able to deal with crisis situations
ESSENTIAL DUTIES :
\tHigh school graduate or GED
\tPossession of a valid Texas Certified Nurse Assistant certification
\tAbility to read, write and effectively communicate in English
\tSix months experience in providing personal care in a long-term care facility preferred
\tKnowledge / ability to learn computer skills
\tAbility to work independently
\tAbility to adjust to changing conditions, frequent demands and stressful situations
\tAbility to acquire new knowledge or perform additional or more difficult tasks
\tAbility to maintain a positive, stable disposition in performing, working in association with staff and residents
\tAbility to maintain a high level of performance in an environment of frequent demands and changes
\tAbility to work effectively as part of a healthcare team, to share information freely, to use and seek supervision and consultation verbally and in writing, and to be able to follow both verbal and written instruction
\tAbility to perform Essential Duties
\tGenuine caring for and interest in the care of seniors, including those with cognitive deficits
\tAbility to perform work tasks within the Physical Demand Requirements as outlined below
\tAbility to comply with the Resident Bill of Rights (LTC) and Employee Responsibilities
\tAbility to comply with organizational and departmental safety policies and procedures
