[job_card.job_description]Acting with Integrity Communicating Effectively Pursuing Self-Development Serving Customers Supporting Change Supporting Organizational Goals Working with Diverse Populations Advanced proficiency level using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access software applications with VBA / macro experience preferred Knowledge and experience with SAP, BW, Workiva and / or similar accounting / financial software Comprehensive knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB), with an emphasis on insurance accounting and / or derivatives and equity method accounting Comprehensive knowledge of principles and practices of accounting and financial systems user applications (SAP preferred), including input / output processing and complex system concepts, and ability to understand and use computer systems and application tools for analysis Strong knowledge and demonstrated experience performing financial analysis, reporting, and / or process improvement Demonstrated competencies in the areas of consulting, change management, quality and project management Bachelor's Degree in accounting, finance or a related field Six years of professional job-related work experience in investments or related accounting / reporting Experience managing projects or implementation of continuous improvement initiatives CFA, CPA, CMA, or equivalent training and certification Less than or equal to 10% Performs SOX testing and ensures SOX documentation is maintained and updated timely for the department in order to ensure compliance with Sarbanes Oxley Analyzes and researches how to account for new derivatives and limited partnership investments Documents and enhances operating and SOX control procedures and policies Performs and reviews data entry of derivatives and limited partnership transactions Prepares and reviews analytical data and reports for derivatives and other complex assets for all accounting bases, including USGAAP, STAT, and USTAX and application of hedge accounting (if applicable) Prepares and reviews required quarterly and annual disclosures to be included in the SEC form 10-Q and 10-K Prepares various reports to support management reporting, including but not limited to, hedge cost matrix Runs accounting processes and ensures that the derivatives and complex assets general accounting activities are completed entirely, accurately and in a timely manner Interprets, analyzes, and implements new FASB and SSAP regulations concerning their relevance to Investments and derivatives, along with collaborating with the Accounting Policy team to determine appropriate treatment Acts in a senior capacity delegating assignments to, reviewing and approving the work of, and providing advice and direction to junior team members Proactively identifies improvements and makes recommendations which may have an important bearing on management's decisions and performance of the team Assists the team and analyzes complex investment data and information; completes quantitative and qualitative reviews and prepares required internal and external records, reports, statistics, SEC and stockholders' reports, etc.; develops and presents conclusions and recommendations to management Leads or participates on project teams or committees assisting with the development, planning, and implementation of strategic long-range and short-range goals and objectives and continuous improvement Identifies and resolves reconciliation discrepancies and provides detailed explanations for variances between the general ledger and sub ledgers; maintains complete and accurate regulatory filings Develops, analyzes and implements accounting procedures in a systems environment in conformance with applicable accounting requirements in collaboration with Japan Investment Accounting, Investment Tax, and system support IT teams to ensure processes and system set up are optimized and accurate for all bases of accounting needed Establishes and maintains strong working relationships with business partners as their key point of contact in certain areas Works with Investment and Derivatives' Accounting leadership in tracking the progress made on departmental goals Maintains and ensures a continuous improvement culture by developing and tracking KPIs with the team, and driving the effectiveness of daily huddle meetings Maintains a continuous improvement culture by identifying ways to eliminate manual processes or enhance processes / controls, and execute recommended changes as necessary Develops and maintains reports to enhance reporting requirements Performs other duties as required, such as, but not limited to, assisting other areas of investment accounting as a result of turnover / other project needs

Work Designation. Depending on your location within the continental US, this role may be hybrid or remote.
- If you live within 50 miles of the Aflac offices located in Columbus, GA or Columbia, SC, this role will be hybrid. This means you will be expected to work in the office for at least 60% of the work week. You will work from your home (within the continental US) for the remaining portion of the work week. Details of this schedule will be discussed with your leadership.
- If you live more than 50 miles from the Aflac offices located in Columbus, GA or Columbia, SC, this role will be remote. This means you will be expected to work from your home, within the continental US. If the role is remote, there may be occasions that you are requested to come to the office based on business need. Any requests to come to the office would be communicated with you in advance.

The salary range for this job is $95,000 to $130,000. This range is specific to the job and salary offers consider a wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including, but not limited to : education, experience, licensure, certifications, geographic location, and peer compensation. The range has been created in good faith based on information known to Aflac at the time of the posting.
At Aflac, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for the role to allow for future and continued salary growth, and compensation decisions are dependent on the circumstances of each case. This salary range does not include any potential incentive pay or benefits, however, such information will be provided separately when appropriate.
In addition to the base salary, we offer an array of benefits to meet your needs including medical, dental, and vision coverage, prescription drug coverage, health care flexible spending, dependent care flexible spending, Aflac supplemental policies (Accident, Cancer, Critical Illness and Hospital Indemnity offered at no costs to employee), 401(k) plans, annual bonuses, and an opportunity to purchase company stock.
