Job Description

American Traveler is seeking a Med / Surg RN with at least one year of experience and a GA or compact license for a hospital-based position requiring BLS certification.

Responsibilities

  • Position is in the Medical Surgical Unit of a hospital
  • Cares for adolescent to geriatric patients with a variety of medical-surgical diagnoses
  • Remote telemetry utilized on the unit
  • Average nurse-to-patient ratio is 1 : 6 on a 38-bed unit
  • Uses Epic EMR (required), Pyxis, and SBAR communication protocols
  • Day shift schedule, working three 12-hour shifts from 7 : 00 to 19 : 00
  • Every other weekend work required
  • Floating to other units may be required
  • No call responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive care for diverse Med / Surg patient population using telemetry monitoring when needed
  • Expected to work assigned major holidays based on assignment duration; holiday RTO is highly restricted
  • Maximum of 7 days RTO may be requested, but no RTO allowed during the first week of assignment
  • Navy blue scrubs required
  • Modules are completed during orientation and are not billable
  • Local candidates are accepted at the same rate
  • First time travelers will be considered for this position
  • Travel pairs cannot be assigned the same shift on the same unit
  • No blocked scheduling is permitted

    • Requirements

  • Active GA or compact RN license in hand at time of application
  • Minimum one year of recent Med / Surg nursing experience required
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Perm or PRN staff must have a one year break from any Piedmont facility before returning as a traveler
  • Submission of two supervisory references (manager or above) highly preferred
