Teacher Assistant - Minneapolis, Minnesota

A full-time paraprofessional position is available to support a middle school student transitioning from a center-based setting to a general education environment. This contract role offers the opportunity to work closely with educators and specialists to facilitate a successful integration and positive learning experience within the school community.

Responsibilities:

• Provide one-on-one support and assistance tailored to the students individual needs during classroom activities and transitions
• Collaborate with teachers and support staff to implement educational and behavioral strategies
• Assist with academic tasks, social skills development, and communication facilitation
• Monitor and document progress, reporting observations to the special education team
• Promote a safe, inclusive, and encouraging learning environment

Qualifications:

• Experience working as a paraprofessional in school settings, particularly with middle school-aged students
• Familiarity with supporting students transitioning from specialized programs to general education classrooms
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with students, staff, and families
• Ability to follow individualized education plans (IEPs) and adapt support strategies as needed
• Patience, empathy, and a commitment to fostering student independence
