Description
The Department of Pediatrics at Vanderbilt University Medical Center is actively seeking to fill a full-time clinical position for a licensed clinical psychologist with expertise in pediatric psychology. The psychologist would join the rapidly growing Division of Pediatric Psychology in the Department of Pediatrics at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and would be integrated within the multidisciplinary Pediatric Hematology Oncology service. Vanderbilt Medical Center serves a diverse population of patients and families in the Nashville and Middle Tennessee area, as well as surrounding states.
The psychologist would join another full-time psychologist in the Behavioral Hematology Oncology Program (BHOP), providing psychological services for patients with cancer, blood disorders, and / or other related conditions and their families. BHOP provides brief assessment, consultation, and psychotherapy in both the inpatient and outpatient contexts. The BHOP psychologists collaborate with other psychosocial teams (including Child Life, Social Work, and others), ancillary services such as PT and OT, and consulting medical teams such as palliative care. Primary areas of need include coping with diagnosis and treatment, medical trauma, anxiety, mood issues, behavioral issues, treatment adherence, and management of co-morbid mental health issues.
The psychologist would join a supportive, collegial group of team members in the Pediatric Psychology Division, with strong mentorship opportunities. This position also provides an opportunity for collaboration with colleagues across various disciplines and medical teams, with the potential for involvement in quality improvement and / or research. There are also opportunities for participation in the Comfort Ability Program, an evidence-based program that provides support for children and adolescents with functional symptoms and / or chronic pain.
Qualifications
Applicants must hold a doctoral degree in clinical psychology (PhD or PsyD).
Licensed and / or license-eligible in Tennessee.
The psychologist will be appointed as a faculty member in the Division of Pediatric Psychology in the Department of Pediatrics at Vanderbilt University Medical Center (open rank, depending on experience). The ideal candidate for this position should have experience in utilizing evidence-based assessment and treatment within the pediatric integrated care context. Experience in pediatric hematology oncology is preferred but not required. The candidate should be comfortable working in a busy academic medical center, with patients and families from diverse backgrounds, and participating in interdisciplinary care. The psychologist should also have experience working with children, adolescents, young adults, and families.
