BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES : This position is located in the Office of the Chief Financial Officer (OCFO), Education Cluster (EC), University of the District of Columbia (UDC). The incumbent is responsible for the oversight and monitoring of accounting, student accounts and grants management at the University of the District of Columbia. Duties include, but are not limited to : monitoring and overseeing the design and development of financial components; providing technical assistance to UDC managers and programs in the development or modification of accounting systems; establishing and documenting policies and procedures; providing advice to management and staff on financial matters; Reports (CAFR) and A-133 audits; coordinating the presentation of financial information; developing and providing information, technical guidance and reports to auditors; analyzing reports, statements, and financial data and preparing the monthly financial forecast. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Seven (7) years of progressive experience performing the related duties and responsibilities such as providing oversight, advisory support, and supervision of accounting and grant management functions. Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification is required.

In addition - Applicant must have a bachelor's degree in accounting or related field such as business administration, finance, or public administration that included or was supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting. This can include up to six (6) hours of business law. Applicants must list their active CPA license number on their application and submit an official transcript that verifies a bachelor's degree in accounting or related field and 24 semester credit hours in accounting in order to be considered. If applicable, your application package must include a foreign credential course by course evaluation of all foreign transcripts. Acceptable foreign credential equivalency reports must be provided by organizations that have current membership with the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) or the Association of International Credential Evaluators (AICE).

Specialized Experience

Experience that provides the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for this position.

SALARY REDUCTION OF REEMPLOYED ANNUITANTS :

An individual selected for employment in the District Government on or after January 1, 1980, who is receiving an annuity under any District government civilian retirement system, shall have his or her pay reduced by the amount of annuity allocable to the period of employment as a reemployed annuitant.
