CNC Machinist

Job Summary :

The CNC Machinist will operate 2, 3, 4, and / or 5 axis CNC and conventional machines to produce complex aerospace parts, demonstrating a high level of cross-training flexibility. Candidates should have broad experience with various automated CNC machines and understand their operational capabilities, working independently with minimal supervision.

Essential Functions :

Operate multiple CNC and conventional machines, including Mills and Lathes

Perform pre-operational inspections

Interpret blueprints, manuals, and job specifications to determine dimensions, tolerances, sequences, and setup requirements

Execute complex machine setups independently, including adjusting jaws, tools, and offsets

Use forklifts to retrieve and load parts

Utilize cranes and hoists for material handling

Run test operations to verify machine settings and programming accuracy

Select and secure tools, fixtures, and materials

Set and adjust machining parameters such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and cutting depth

Monitor machine operations, making adjustments as needed

Verify part conformance to specifications

Track time spent on each task using designated systems

Follow continuous improvement plans and daily work procedures

Non-Essential Functions :

Promote and maintain a safe work environment

Keep work area clean and free of debris

Document completed job orders and maintain traveler paperwork

Maintain quality records

Operate specialized tools such as gun drills

Collaborate with engineers, programmers, and other team members to resolve machining issues

Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements :

Experience :

5+ years CNC machining experience

3+ years conventional machining experience preferred

Experience with manual and CNC machines

Equivalent experience at the discretion of hiring management

Education :

High school diploma or GED preferred

Trade school certification or equivalent work experience

Certifications (Preferred but not required) :

Forklift or crane operator certification

ANSI Y14.5 (GD&T) certification

Machines & technologies you'll use :

• CNC Mill (3-4 axis VMC) (Fanuc, Haas, Okuma)
• CNC Lathe (2-4 axis) (Haas, Mazak)
