This position is required to work outside in various weather conditions and temperatures and may involve repeated physical movement and exertion.

Position Description
Purpose
The purpose of this position is to provide mechanical maintenance support to all service units utilizing vehicles owned and operated by the Calgary Board of Education (CBE).
Accountability
This position is accountable for performing all duties in accordance with CBE and legislative safety practices and procedures at all times to ensure their own safety as well as the safety of team members, staff and students.
Major responsibilities
Performs routine shop repairs and maintenance to a variety of equipment including trucks, school buses, graders, tractors, trailers and miscellaneous small powered equipment. May also be dispatched to perform service calls and perform emergency repairs on equipment at various CBE operational sites throughout the city of Calgary.
Performs regular routine inspections to all vehicles, emergency standby equipment and seasonal equipment in accordance with predetermined schedules. Test drives and operates vehicles and equipment to ensure they are roadworthy and safe to operate.
Determines and prepares a parts list required to complete assigned work.
Ensures all data necessary for maintenance of vehicle and equipment history files are reported as necessary.
Instructs vehicle and equipment operators, temporary employees and tradespeople in the proper care and operation of equipment.
Performs other related responsibilities as required.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
Alberta Journeyman's certificate as a Heavy Duty Technician/ Mechanic with Off-Road specialization
Certification in bus, truck and trailer inspection
Five years related experience
Experience in repairing various types of equipment is an asset
Valid Alberta Class 3 Drivers License
