Job Description
About the Role
We are seeking a Master CNC Programmer / Machinist who thrives on complexity, enjoys solving challenging manufacturing problems, and has deep expertise in programming, setup, and machining of large, unconventional components.
If large-format prototype machining, hands-on problem-solving, and continuous process refinement excite you, this role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact.
Key ResponsibilitiesCNC Programming, Setup, and Machining
Write, read, prove out, edit, and optimize CNC programs at the machine control and through CAM software.
Program, set up, and operate a large vertical boring and turning mill equipped with a Fanuc CNC controller.
Manufacture one-off and prototype aerospace components from concept to completion, utilizing iterative trial-and-error refinement.
Apply advanced GD&T principles to ensure tight-tolerance dimensional accuracy.
Large-Part & Specialized Machining
Machine large, heavy, and irregularly shaped metal components (up to 100+ inches in diameter).
Safely rig, lift, and move components using cranes, hoists, and other material handling equipment.
Address real-time manufacturing challenges directly on the shop floor.
Continuous Improvement & Collaboration
Identify process inefficiencies, implement solutions, and document improvements for repeatability.
Collaborate closely with engineering, quality, and production teams to streamline workflows and improve outcomes.
Ownership & Adaptability
Operate effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment where priorities may shift daily.
Take ownership across multiple disciplines, including machining, programming, problem-solving, and innovation.
Qualifications
7+ years of CNC machining and programming experience using platforms such as Fanuc, Haas, Fusion, Mastercam, or similar.
Extensive experience machining large or complex aerospace components in both prototype and production settings.
Required Skills
Strong ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and GD&T.
Hands-on experience setting up and operating large CNC machines, horizontal mills, or vertical lathes.
Solid understanding of tooling selection, feeds and speeds, fixturing strategies, and material behavior.
Practical experience with rigging, cranes, and lifting equipment in a manufacturing environment.
Preferred Skills
Experience in prototype development, short-run CNC manufacturing, and R&D-driven environments.
Background in aerospace, defense, or precision metal manufacturing.
Familiarity with AS9100 and NADCAP standards is a plus.
