[job_card.job_description]Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Physics, or related field. 8-10 years of experience in software development with strong proficiency in C++ and Android (Java / Kotlin, NDK). Hands-on experience with Vulkan, OpenGL, or other graphics / compute APIs. Familiarity with AI / ML integration (OpenAI, TensorFlow, or PyTorch). Experience working on cross-platform systems that integrate with hardware. Strong grasp of data structures, algorithms, and performance optimization. Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to collaborate in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary team. Ability to work from our Boston office 5 days per week. Must be authorized to work in the U.S. Background in physics, imaging systems, or computational graphics. Experience with embedded Linux, device drivers, or low-level firmware / software. PURPOSE
Videray Technologies exists to create a safer society across the globe. We have created some of the world’s most powerful, user-friendly, and ultra-portable handheld x-ray inspection devices to help our clients see through surfaces to detect illicit drugs, contraband, and potential threats.
Our technology is already progressing on this mission domestically and internationally in over 80 countries. You’ll be working with a fun, intelligent, and driven group of individuals to ensure we can continue fulfilling this mission in the years to come!
POSITION
We are seeking a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer with a strong background in Android, C++, and modern graphics / compute frameworks (Vulkan, OpenGL, etc.) to help us advance our next generation of handheld imaging devices. This role will span embedded software, UI / UX development, data processing pipelines, and AI / ML integrations (OpenAI, PyTorch, TensorFlow). This is an on-site role in our Boston, MA office.
You will work closely with electrical, mechanical, and physics engineers to bring highly integrated systems to life. This is a hands-on technical leadership role where you’ll be expected to design, implement, and optimize across the stack—from low-level device control to front-end user interfaces.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design, develop, and optimize applications for Android platforms with C++ and Java / Kotlin.
- Implement GPU-accelerated algorithms for image rendering and data processing using Vulkan (or related APIs).
- Build and maintain APIs that bridge hardware, firmware, and user applications.
- Integrate AI / ML models (OpenAI and other frameworks) into production software for real-time inference.
- Collaborate with hardware engineers on sensor integration, performance optimization, and system debugging.
- Contribute to UX / UI development for field-ready Android apps.
- Write clean, efficient, well-documented code and participate in peer code reviews.
- Support testing, validation, and deployment of production systems used worldwide.
