Development Engineer

The Commercial Solar Estimator develops complete and accurate project cost estimates for commercial and distributed-generation solar (+ BESS) projects. This role bridges early-stage development and construction, translating conceptual opportunities into firm proposals and fully engineered, shovel-ready projects.

The Commercial Solar Estimator leads the coordination of technical scope, design validation, and cost modeling to the construction delivery team for execution.

Target Salary : $85,000 - $115,000 depending on experience

Commercial Solar Estimator Responsibilities :

Project Development & Scope Definition

• Transform conceptual design inputs from the Development Team into detailed scopes of work and preliminary designs.
• Coordinate site data collection, interconnection review, and constructability assessments.
• Collaborate with engineering to validate design concepts, ensure code compliance, and produce CD30 → CD90 deliverables.
• Identify value-engineering opportunities and cost-performance trade-offs.

Commercial Solar Estimator Qualifications :

4-8 years’ experience in each of the below : Estimating renewable energy projects, specifically relevant to electrical and cost estimation

Specialty contractor (MEP) experience, while this role is mostly focused on retrofits of existing properties, new construction / general contractor experience is preferred.

Certified Energy Manager, NABCEP, LEED AP . (Candidate is not expected to have all)

OSHA 10 Hour or higher a plus

Work Environment & Physical Requirements :

This position operates in both office and field settings. Travel may be required for site walks, vendor visits, or project meetings. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, reach, stoop, kneel, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, phone, and keyboard. May regularly need to lift up to 20 lbs., unassisted.
