CNC Lead – 1st Shift
Location : Milwaukee, WI
Job Type : Direct Hire
Shift : 1st Shift | 7 : 00 AM – 3 : 30 PM
Pay : $72k-100k / year (based on experience)
Our client is seeking an experienced CNC Lead for a direct hire opportunity on the 1st shift in Milwaukee, WI. The ideal candidate will be responsible for basic programming, fixturing, tool setup, in-process inspection, and precision machining of tight-tolerance components (±0.0005”). This is a hands-on lead role that requires collaboration with managers, engineers, operators, and quality teams to plan and execute efficient, cost-effective manufacturing processes.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities :
- Program and machine precision components on a variety of CNC machines and controls using MasterCAM and on-machine programming.
- Equipment includes :
- Mazak Turning Centers
- Toshiba TUE-200 VTL (78” Table – 94” Swing)
- Okuma VTL
- Sharp Vertical Machining Center
- Viper Milling Center
- ProtoTRAK SMX Conversational Milling Center
- Milltronics Conversational Milling Center
- Perform basic to advanced progressive programming and machining tasks with minimal supervision.
- Layout and plan work from blueprints, sketches, and technical specifications.
- Develop manufacturing processes, create part programs, select tooling, and set up jobs for production.
- Ensure dimensional accuracy and surface quality through appropriate measurement and inspection techniques.
- Complete documentation and inspection records as required.
- Provide feedback to improve programming, tooling, and setup methods.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Perform general shop duties as needed.
Experience & Skills Required :
2–3 years of progressively responsible experience in CNC programming and machining.Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, mechanical drawings, and GD&T.Experience machining tight tolerance features (±0.0005”).Skilled in G & M code programming and conversational programming.Strong working knowledge of Mazak turning centers and Mazatrol.Proficiency in CAM programming, preferably MasterCAM.Familiarity with tooling such as carbide drills, end mills, boring bars, and inserted cutters.Solid understanding of feeds, speeds, and machine setup.Proficient with traditional inspection tools including micrometers, calipers, depth gauges, and radius gauges.Basic knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
