Office Assistant
The University of New Mexico is seeking a passionate and detail-oriented individual to fill the newly created student position of Office Assistant within the Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) unit. Under the direct supervision of the Unit Administrator, this role supports the department's front desk and provides assistance for both in-person and telephone interactions with staff, vendors, students and the public. Primary Responsibilities : Manage front desk duties, including handling incoming mail, scheduling appointments, and fielding telephone enquiries. Carry out a variety of administrative tasks for EHS; serve as a key liaison with other departments and external stakeholders to address day-to-day unit matters. Assist in solving administrative issues and help implement the department's goals and objectives. Conduct research, compile statistics, collect and analyze various data; prepare one-time or recurring reports, summaries and responses to inquiries by selecting relevant information from diverse sources. Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned, in alignment with the mission, strategic priorities, annual programming and scheduling of EHS.
Minimum Qualifications :
Preferred Qualifications : Receptionist skills. Front desk duties mail, scheduling student appointments, answering phone calls. Empathetic and active listening skills to respond to repetitive questions. Experience in customer service and working with outside vendors. Interacts directly with students, employers, staff, faculty and community partners. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures. Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information. Word processing and / or data entry skills. Ability to create, compose, and edit written materials. Organizing and coordinating skills. Excellent customer service experience with a diverse population. Proficient in Zoom and Microsoft Office Suite including Teams. Detail oriented, time management and strong organizational skills. Work effectively independently as well as with a team. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
