POSITION DUTIES
The School PsychologicalServices Manager oversees programs and initiatives that provide support to Marylandsschools in the area of school psychological services. This position will serveas the lead expert on school psychological services and monitor implementationof school psychological services programs throughout the State.
The School PsychologicalServices Manager will interpret and implement laws regulations policies andprocedures governing assigned program areas; advise and make recommendationsconcerning education program effectiveness program needs and operational issues;participate in the development implementation and assessment of strategies toensure that program activities contribute to meeting strategic plan goals andobjectives; provide leadership consultation and technical assistance todevelop and implement the program of school psychological services in eachlocal education agency (LEA); share responsibility in the branch for suicideprevention programs; assist others in the Division with school climateinitiatives; share responsibility within the branch for assisting LEAs withdeveloping and implementing a coordinated student services program and forexpanding school mental health services; share responsibility
within the Department and withstaff from other agencies to develop guidelines programs and / or promisingpractices in services for students with disabilities data collection schoolmental health and disruptive youth; and use knowledge experience andexpertise in school psychology research and evaluation systems of studentsupport and the school improvement process to support achievement ofDepartmental and Division goals and priorities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION : A Masters degree orthe equivalent of 36 credit hours of post-baccalaureate course work from anaccredited college or university.
EXPERIENCE : Five years of experiencecoordinating or administering education programs or services related to aschool psychological services program.
Notes :
1. Candidates may substitutethe possession of a Bachelors degree with two years additional years of therequired experience directly related to the position option.
2. Candidates may substitutethe possession of a Doctorate degree from an accredited college or universityin a field related to the position option for one year of the requiredexperience.
3. The required field ofeducation and experience are unique for each option and are established by MSDEin accordance with Education Article Section 2-104 of the Annotated Code ofMaryland. The specific education and experience qualifications for each positionare on record in the Human Resources Branch.
4. Candidates may substituteU.S. Armed Forces military service experience at a rank of Corporal / PettyOfficer or higher as a commissioned officer in Education Programclassifications or Education Program specialty codes in the Education field ofwork on a year-for-year basis for the required experience and education oneyear of which must have been in an administrative supervisory or consultativecapacity.
