Position Summary

The Plant Controller plays a critical role in supporting Sprecher Brewing Company’s manufacturing and financial operations by ensuring accurate product costing, inventory valuation, and margin analysis. This role partners closely with Brewing, Production, and Operations teams to analyze costs, improve processes, and provide actionable insights that support profitability and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience in a manufacturing or food & beverage environment and is highly proficient in Microsoft Dynamics 365 / Business Central.

Key Responsibilities Cost Accounting & Analysis

Develop, maintain, and analyze standard costs for raw materials, packaging, labor, and overhead

Perform variance analysis (material, labor, overhead) and investigate significant fluctuations

Prepare product cost and margin analyses to support pricing and profitability decisions

Support month-end close activities related to cost accounting and inventory

Inventory Management

Oversee inventory costing, valuation, and reconciliation across raw materials, WIP, and finished goods

Ensure accurate inventory transactions within Microsoft Dynamics 365

Support and participate in physical inventory counts and cycle counts

Analyze inventory trends, slow-moving items, and obsolescence reserves

Manufacturing & Operations Support

Partner with Brewing, Production, and Operations teams to understand cost drivers and improve efficiencies

Track production yields, losses, and efficiencies in a manufacturing environment

Assist with BOM (Bill of Materials) setup, maintenance, and accuracy in Dynamics 365

Systems & Reporting

Serve as a key accounting user and subject matter expert for Microsoft Dynamics 365

Create and maintain financial and operational reports related to costs, inventory, and margins

Support system enhancements, testing, and process improvements related to cost accounting

Compliance & Controls

Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and GAAP

Assist with audits by providing inventory and cost-related documentation

Support documentation and continuous improvement of cost accounting processes

Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required

3–5+ years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment (food & beverage strongly preferred)

Demonstrated experience with inventory accounting and valuation

Hands-on experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 (preferred)

Strong understanding of standard costing, variance analysis, and BOM structures

Advanced Excel skills; experience with ERP reporting tools a plus
