Airswift is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to work with our key client in Richmond, VA for a long term contract. This role supports a Dairy Renewable Natural Gas Construction Program, overseeing operations from mechanical completion to performance testing of gas cleaning systems.
Position Summary: Reporting to the Commissioning Program Manager, the Mechanical Commissioning Engineer will oversee mechanical commissioning, troubleshoot operational issues, suggest design improvements, identify common failure points, and assist in setting up a preventative maintenance program. This engineer will advocate for safe and environmentally responsible practices.
Location: Remote within the United States. Must be authorized to work in the U.S. and able to travel to job sites in rural Western states.
Key Responsibilities: - Collaborate with Business Development, Construction, Engineering, EH&S, and Operations to ensure open communication and goal achievement.
- Participate in weekly update calls.
- Identify risks and opportunities related to Design, Construction, Commissioning, Operations, and Scheduling.
- Monitor and report safety or environmental compliance issues.
- Track daily and weekly reports for assigned regions and provide commissioning status updates.

Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills: - Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
- 10 to 20+ years in mechanical design, maintenance, or reliability roles.
- Industrial experience with Oil & Gas, Chemical Facilities, or similar.
- Experience with RNG is strongly preferred.
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
- Ability to influence and secure alignment without authority.
- Proficient in using personal computers and analytical problem-solving.
- Knowledge of codes, regulations, and industry practices.
- Effective both independently and in teams.
- Strong planning, organizational skills, and ability to learn new skills.
Preferred Equipment Experience: Boilers, compressors, blowers, chillers, screw presses, pumps, mixers, and valves.
Travel Requirements: Willing to travel domestically 25%-40% of the time, mainly during commissioning activities and performance tests, with peak demand in Spring and Fall.
