Job SummaryProvide basic patient care duties under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)Essential Functions
- Actively participates in purposeful rounding and documents in patient care record
- Obtains and accurately documents vital signs on patients per department policy
- Answers call lights in a timely manner and reports any changes in behavior or patient condition to primary nurse or charge nurse
- Performs or assists patients with activities of daily living as needed or directed
- Transports patients to / from other departments and upon admission
- Documents all care provided accurately and in a timely manner
- Functions as a Patient Safety Attendant as needed with appropriate training
- Stocks supplies in patient care rooms
- Turnover of rooms to include cleaning, changing linens and removing trash after each patient encounter
- Performs finger stick glucose, reporting out of range values to primary nurse
- Collects specimens and send / transport to lab : Wound cultures; Clean catch urine; MRSA, COVID, Influenza, and Strep swabs
- Required to attend training and demonstrate competency (if indicated) for : Phlebotomy - venous blood draws and blood cultures; 12 lead EKGs – lead placement and printing; Foley Catheter insertion and urine specimen collection; Splinting, wound care and dressings; Interpretation of fatal cardiac rhythms; Care of the Behavioral Health Patient
- Any other duties as needed to drive the Vision, fulfill the Mission and abide by the Values of the organization
Qualifications
High School Diploma or Equivalent requiredAttended an approved UAP training course, or has documented experience as a nurse assistant, emergency medical technician (EMT) or surgical technician in the past three (3) years as noted in state regulations.BLS - Basic Life Support required
