Microsoft Cloud Engineer for a 6-month contract-to-hire position supporting a growing insurance industry client. This role offers a flexible hybrid schedule (2 days / week) at office locations in Chicago (Loop), the Chicago suburbs, and Phoenix, AZ. It is ideal for a self-starter with proven experience in designing, implementing, and supporting Microsoft cloud solutions. This Engineer will serve as a subject matter expert across a broad set of technologies including Microsoft 365, MS Azure, and endpoint management. Candidates must have a strong background in identity and access management, cloud infrastructure, and platform administration. Experience administering MS Dynamics 365 CRM is a strongly preferred skill as well.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and support Microsoft-based solutions including Azure, Exchange Online, Intune, Teams, and SharePoint
- Maintain and manage Microsoft 365 cloud environments including Entra ID (formerly Azure Active Directory or "Azure AD"), conditional access, MFA, and hybrid identity
- Lead / support consolidation efforts across Azure, Active Directory, and Entra environments
- Provide Tier 3 support for cloud and infrastructure solutions, including end-user support and technical guidance
- Drive modernization efforts for collaboration tools and cloud-native platforms
- Configure and support endpoint management and mobile devices through Microsoft Intune
- Assist in documenting cloud architecture and operational standards
- Support data transformation and migration initiatives
- Ensure compliance with data governance, cybersecurity, and cloud best practices
- Collaborate with technical and business teams to align MS cloud services with needs
Required Skills & Experience
4+ years of hands-on experience administering MS Azure and MS 365 environmentsStrong knowledge of Windows Server and desktop environmentsProven expertise in Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), identity lifecycle management, and authentication strategiesExperience with VPNs, DNS, networking fundamentals, and cloud security controlsEndpoint configuration and management experience using IntuneStrong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills across cloud and endpoint platformsPreferred Skills
