Solid Waste Collection Route Operator
Job Description
Accomplish assigned solid waste collection routes within the given time frame. Provide customer service to citizens inquiries, comments, or concerns. Use caution in surrounding areas to ensure route is done in a safe manner.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.
- Is responsible for learning and memorizing routes consisting of 1,200 to 1,300 residents while safely driving and utilizing an automated truck. Maintains vigilance of surrounding looking out for citizens, parked vehicles, overhead power lines, etc., in order to assure safe operations on a daily basis.
- Is responsible for safely carry out and complete assigned route while operating automated truck mounted with a hydraulic arm, lifting and emptying garbage and recycle bins.
- Carry out and complete assigned WebQa / 311 work orders, keep logs updated and reporting violations and unsafe conditions to customer service via radio communication.
- Conducts pre and post trip inspection on equipment. Conduct basic maintenance including but not limited to washing, cleaning of chute and truck interior to maintain a clean and professional image.
- Trains and / or assists in the training of new employees by relying on previous experience and capability to use the tools and equipment to achieve the objectives fo the position as requested by management.
- Responds to customer questions and needs in a polite and courteous manner and assists with any questions or concerns.
- Attends bi-weekly safety meetings and complies with city and state policies and ordinances.
- Will be required to drive a City vehicle for City business use.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience :
High School Diploma or G.E.D.At least two (2) years of truck driving experience.Valid Licenses and Certifications
