Your Role on the Team

Position Summary

This position is responsible for the nursing care delivered to patients in the ED. Utilizes the nursing process (assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation) throughout a patients stay in the ED, from triage to discharge/admission. Communicates effectively with other ED team members to ensure appropriate, timely, and professional care to all patients. Demonstrates ability to function safely and efficiently in high?stress situations and in response to unexpected changes in workload. Demonstrates knowledge of resources available within the hospital and in the community. Reports to the ED Manager and is overseen by the Admin Director of Nursing ER and Acute Care Services.

Required Qualifications

• Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
• Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
• Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms
• One year of acute care nursing experience
• One year of ER experience, current RN license; membership in the Emergency Nurses Association encouraged
• American Heart Association ACLS, CPR, PALS and Non?violent crisis intervention/verbal de?escalation course within 3 months of hire
• All external candidates must have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing
